Staff Software Engineer

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Senior Android Software Engineer to design, develop, and secure new features for its primary Android mobile products. The role focuses on architecture, end-to-end ownership, and mobile security best practices while collaborating with product, sales, UX, and backend teams.

• Drive architecture, implementation, and maintenance of core Android solutions.
• Own the development lifecycle from prototyping to delivery and maintenance.
• Define and promote security and performance best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, UX, and backend teams on roadmaps and API design.
• Interface with Support and field teams to troubleshoot complex customer escalations.
• Lead design sessions, provide technical direction, and conduct code reviews for teammates.
• Stay updated on evolving mobile technologies, Android OS updates, and open-source libraries.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years on Android and 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java with deep understanding of OOP concepts.
• Expertise in modern Android architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI, MVP) and Material Design UI patterns.
• Experience with Android testing frameworks (Espresso, JUnit) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Git workflows, Maven/Gradle, and code signing for Google Play distribution.
• Solid understanding of IAM concepts (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SCIM, token-based authentication).
• Familiarity with security technologies such as MFA, PKI, certificate security, and secure data storage on mobile devices.
• Basic experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
