As a Senior Software Engineer (Android) in the Self Service Mobile Apps chapter at Telstra, you will apply deep native Android expertise to design, build, test, release and support secure, reliable and accessible mobile experiences for customers, with a primary focus on the My Telstra app. You will translate customer and business needs into maintainable technical solutions across the full software development lifecycle.
- Design, build and optimise native Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks with scalable, reusable solutions.
- Deliver high-quality, secure and accessible software through automated testing, code reviews, and CI/CD practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance, reliability and production issues using debugging and logging tools.
- Own features end-to-end, from technical design and development through to release and production support.
- Partner with Product, Design, Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, stakeholder engagement, and driving engineering excellence.
- Extensive experience in advanced Android development using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and modern Android frameworks.
- Secure, accessible and quality-focused delivery supported by automated testing, CI/CD practices, and code reviews.
- Strong problem-solving capability with expertise in debugging, performance optimisation, and production diagnostics.
- Experience building and integrating APIs, microservices, observability and analytics solutions.
- Proven use of AI-assisted engineering tools, including GitHub Copilot.
- Technical leadership, stakeholder influence, and mentoring skills.
