Senior QA Automation Engineer

Senior QA Automation Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and implementing test automation frameworks and strategies across multiple applications for Morningstar's Indexes Team. The role involves analyzing existing systems, creating comprehensive automation test cases, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring high-quality software delivery through Agile practices.

• Define and establish automation testing strategies, frameworks, and processes
• Analyze and understand Indexes applications and design appropriate automation solutions
• Gather requirements and develop comprehensive automation test cases and suites
• Coordinate testing activities for application enhancements and technology operations with stakeholders
• Collaborate with development, business analysis, and operations teams to ensure high‑quality software delivery
• Participate in Agile ceremonies: daily stand‑ups, iteration planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives
• Identify, document, track, and communicate defects throughout the SDLC
• Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and contribute to bug resolution
• Ensure test automation coverage across backend integrations, databases, APIs, and user interfaces
• Continuously improve automation frameworks, testing processes, and quality engineering practices

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance Automation Testing
• Hands‑on experience implementing and maintaining large‑scale, cross‑functional automation frameworks
• Strong understanding of automation testing approaches: Keyword‑Driven, Data‑Driven, Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD), Hybrid Automation Frameworks
• Experience in backend integration, database, API, and UI testing
• Proficiency with CI/CD and DevOps practices and integrating automation into pipelines
• Knowledge of cloud‑based test execution environments
• Experience with test management tools such as Jira, ALM
• Proficiency with automation tools: Selenium, SoapUI, QTP, JUnit, NUnit
• Strong programming skills in Java or C# (preferred) and solid OOP knowledge
• Experience with SQL, database testing, ETL testing, and writing/optimizing SQL queries
