Principal Engineer - Platform
Razorpay is hiring a Principal Engineer to shape the technical future of its core payments platform. As a Principal Engineer, you will be the most senior individual contributor in the organization — setting architecture direction, solving the hardest engineering problems, and mentoring engineering leaders across the company.
You will work across product lines, owning the technical health of Razorpay's payment stack that processes Rs 10+ lakh crore annually. This is a high-autonomy, high-impact role for a world-class engineer who wants to shape India's most critical financial infrastructure.
- Define and own technical architecture standards across Razorpay's payment platform
- Solve the most difficult distributed systems and scalability challenges
- Mentor staff and senior engineers across multiple teams
- 12+ years of software engineering with a track record of staff+ level impact
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, payment systems, or financial infrastructure
- Experience defining architecture for mission-critical, high-throughput systems
- Proven track record of mentoring engineering leaders and improving engineering culture
- History of solving organization-wide engineering challenges
- Define technical architecture and standards for Razorpay's payment platform
- Lead cross-team architectural review for major system changes
- Identify and address long-term technical risks proactively
- Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers through complex technical challenges
- Represent engineering's technical perspective in leadership forums
