Platform Engineer, Google Cloud Platform

Dyson’s Platform Engineering and Infrastructure Team builds and operates cloud platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The role focuses on designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes-based platforms, and automation tooling to enable secure, scalable, and developer‑friendly services across the organization.

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and shared platform services on GCP
• Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and platform automation tooling
• Build and operate Kubernetes‑based platforms and cloud‑native services
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and platform integrations
• Support cloud networking, identity management, observability, and operational tooling
• Collaborate with security teams to implement governance, compliance, and security controls
• Monitor platform health, availability, performance, and operational reliability
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in incident response and continuous improvement activities
• Create reusable templates, standards, and self‑service capabilities to improve developer experience
• Partner with architects and engineering teams to enable adoption of cloud best practices
• Support cloud cost optimization initiatives and contribute to platform efficiency improvements
• Produce technical documentation, operational runbooks, and platform standards

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• Experience building and operating solutions on Google Cloud Platform
• Strong knowledge of GCP services: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Monitoring
• Hands‑on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud‑native technologies
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
• Understanding of cloud security, networking, identity management, and governance principles
• Experience with Linux administration and scripting using Python, Bash, or similar languages
