PhonePe is hiring a Principal Engineer to define the distributed systems architecture for the PhonePe payment super app platform — the infrastructure processing 5B+ monthly UPI transactions and serving 500M+ users across payments, insurance, and wealth.
- 12+ years engineering with 3+ years Principal Engineer or Staff Engineer
- Expert distributed payment systems at hyperscale — 5B+ monthly transactions
- Java or Go with microservices architecture governance at 500M+ user scale
- Cross-functional technical leadership in payments fintech organisations
- Experience solving hard distributed systems problems at Paytm, Flipkart, or Amazon scale
- B.Tech from IIT/BITS or equivalent reputed institute
- Define PhonePe payment platform technical architecture at 500M+ user scale
- Lead system-wide reliability and scalability architecture decisions
- Drive technical initiatives impacting all 400+ PhonePe engineers
- Review and govern critical technical design proposals
- Represent engineering in PhonePe product and executive forums
- Mentor senior and staff payment engineers on distributed systems
