Nykaa is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer to own search relevance and product discovery at India's largest beauty platform. You will build ML models that make Nykaa's search understand natural language queries, handle shade descriptions, and surface the most relevant beauty products from a catalog of 5+ million SKUs.
The role involves working on query understanding, semantic search, and personalized ranking models that directly impact conversion and customer satisfaction across Nykaa's app and website.
- Build query understanding and intent classification models for beauty search
- Implement semantic search using vector embeddings and FAISS/Elasticsearch
- Develop personalized product ranking models using user behaviour features
- 3-6 years of ML engineering experience with search or NLP
- Strong Python and deep learning skills (PyTorch or TensorFlow)
- Experience with semantic search and embedding-based retrieval
- Knowledge of Elasticsearch or OpenSearch for search infrastructure
- Experience with vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone) for approximate nearest neighbour search
- E-commerce or fashion domain experience is a plus
- Build ML models for query understanding and product relevance ranking
- Implement and A/B test semantic search algorithms
- Develop personalized search ranking based on user behaviour
- Monitor search quality metrics and retraining pipelines
- Collaborate with search platform engineers on ML serving infrastructure
