Lead Software Engineer - Python, Data, Cloud, AIML

JPMorgan Chase seeks a Lead Software Engineer to spearhead cloud-native data, backend, and AI/ML product development within the Markets Research Technology team. The role requires designing secure, scalable solutions, driving AI‑assisted engineering practices, and building the engineering stack for data and AI/ML products. The engineer will collaborate across teams, mentor peers, and contribute to best‑practice communities.

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions for cloud‑native data and AI/ML products
• Build and maintain the engineering stack for data and AI/ML, including data engineering, backend, cloud infra, DevOps, and MLOps
• Drive adoption of AI‑assisted engineering practices across teams
• Create secure, high‑quality production code and maintain production‑grade algorithms
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events
• Mentor senior engineers and leads on AI‑compliant usage patterns
• Ensure design constraints and governance standards are met

• 5+ years of applied software engineering experience
• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
• Proficiency in Python
• Hands‑on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience leading AI‑assisted development tools (code review, test acceleration, etc.)
• Strong understanding of responsible AI practices
• Proven track record in designing and developing microservices, distributed systems, and data‑intensive applications
• Experience with Cloud services, IaC, containerization, and MLOps
• Familiarity with big data technologies and ETL tools (e.g., Glue, Athena, S3)
• Ability to communicate design choices to stakeholders
