About the Role
Our engineering team has grown quickly across two products, and it's starting to show: priorities collide, reviews pile up, and good engineers spend too much time in meetings they shouldn't be in. We need an engineering manager who has done this before and wants to build a team people talk about years later.
You'd lead the JobSpri product engineers directly, run hiring for the next six to eight engineers, and work with the founders on what we build and when. You'd still review designs and code, but your main job is the team.
What You'll Do
- Lead, coach and grow a team of 8–12 engineers, with regular one-to-ones that are actually useful
- Own delivery: plan quarters with product, spot risks early and make trade-offs openly
- Run engineering hiring, from writing the role to making the offer
- Improve how we work: reviews, releases, incidents and documentation
- Represent engineering in leadership discussions
What You'll Need
- 8+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years managing engineers directly
- You've hired well and handled performance problems fairly
- Enough technical depth to challenge a design and be taken seriously
- Calm under pressure, and honest when things go wrong
